National Catholic Schools Week was celebrated at Sapa Un Jesuit Academy, a small private Kindergarten through eighth grade school located in St. Francis, SD and operated under the St. Francis Mission. Established in 2013, the school is known for its small classroom sizes, one-on-one support for students, strong academics, and an emphasis on character building. Over the years, Sapa Un alumni have gone on to excel as students and athletes in their high schools, with some now continuing their success at the college level.

The week began with an early morning prayer service led by Fr. Edmund Yainao, who offered encouragement and prayed over the students. He reminded them that Sapa Un Jesuit Academy is more than a school, it is a second home. He spoke about always developing our perseverance, education, character, and faith. Fr. Edmund also walked through the school to bless classrooms and hallways with holy water and prayers, while students assisted through smudging. Throughout the week, students deepened their understanding of the Catholic faith with help from Religious Education staff Jenny Black Bear and Rhea Two Eagle. The celebration concluded with a school-wide Mass with St. Francis Mission staff and students, celebrated by Fr. Edmund. Catholic Schools Week was a meaningful week for Sapa Un Jesuit Academy students, faculty and staff as we grow in faith, learning, and community.
