“A Tapestry of Love”

Office of Cultural Diversity/Social Justice

A wonderful gift that we have in the African American Community is the gift of one another. Together, we reach out strengthening the faith of Catholics. Our thoughts, beliefs, values and attitudes are shaped by the Church and those around us. In the family and church, we continue to be a source of hope. Together, we find ways to feed the poor, speak about peace and justice. We held an event on May 30, 2026 entitled “ Social Justice Through the Arts. The presentation was done through art, music and drama. The presentation was lively and engaging. The audience of 100 participants were excited. Several people shared their testimonies of faith even when there seemed to be too much pain to keep keeping on. This coming together was a tapestry of love. Our purpose in this presentation was to look at the past but to move forward with forgiveness and love. Despite the challenges that we face and all the signs of disengagement, we are called to be a beloved community.

The Multi-Cultural Mass was held on held on August 22, 2026 at the Diocese of Buffalo Cathedral. Bishop Fisher was the main Celebrant. The African American Choir, Burmese Choir and the Congolese Choir provided the music. About 125 people attended. Again, the theme of love and togetherness for evangelization was the highlight. Through music and spiritual uplifting, the Mass was so enriching. There are so many gifts, but one faith.

Finally, these were opportunities to reach out and nurture our families and friends. Our young people are being engaged and walking with us.
